A little later in the first chapter - "And we men, the creatures who inhabit this earth, must be to them at least as alien and lowly as are the monkeys and lemurs to us." The thoughts of chairman Miaou : Anyone who invented a can-opener can't be all that stupid. If there's no god then who opens the fridge and cleans my litter tray? Never in the realms of a human household has anyone done so much for one who does next to nothing at all. What would the world be if we had fingers and they had claws ?
