Yes! USC is currently doing a study on this in the LA/LB harbor areas.
The average diesel truck, in a 5 minute period, will produce a vial of 
solid material nearly 1 inch high. The vial itself is 1/2 inch wide.
(Non-commercial drivers of diesel vehicles, not being regulated, did 
not provide service records for the study)
A sample vial was presented to the Los Angeles Metropolitan 
Transportation Authority by the Southern California Air Quality 
Management District, as a demonstration during a past hearing.
