I read it the way Feli did. Tolerances seems to have two different meanings.

Wasn't there some sort of pre-Photkina hype that this new Zeiss Ikon
would shift focus in concert with aperture change to make sure that
the film was always on the right plane? I thought I remembered reading
that on the Zeiss site when they were dribbling little snippets of
spin out.
