Subject: [Leica] Leica expects lower operating results for the year

SOLMS, Germany-(Mar.15,2004)-- The Leica Camera  Group said in a newsletter 
today that sales failed to meet  expectations during October and November 
because of a "difficult" market  and that it expected to end its fiscal year 
on   
March 31  with an "operating result" down about 10 million euros (about 
$13.83 
million,  USD). Leica added that it does not expect a short-term 
improvement.
