It might have gotten dirt between the crank and the top plate.

The cosmetic lock ring around the shutter release knob needs to be
removed (without marring the finish) and the whole crank and spring
washer assemble is free. Clean it all up and try again.

The hardest part is getting that lockring off if you don't have the
correct tool. Try removing it using a rubber cork or large eraser
first.

Microtools has the removal tool.

Vick

Subject: [Leica] M6 TTL crank

Hi,

My M6TTL has developed a nasty rough feel to the crank when I wind the
film on. Maybe it just needs a good service (it's 3 years old and has
had heavy use), but does anyone have a different idea? Maybe there's
some little adjustment I can make?

Cheers,

Paul.
