I have the same two books!  The Pocket Leica Book I paid $2.95 (US) for 
it in 1955 after I bought my first M3--which I still have.  It is the 
third edition, published in 1955.

The Leica Pocket Companion I have is also the third edition published in 
1968.  The current model is the M4.
