The shutter crate has the serial number engraved on it, it has many differences to the M3 on which it is based. There are apparently quite a few fakes though even a fake would not be easy to do due to the non standard body and top. A black one sold in Christies in London for ?22,000 plus charges and tax (my catalogue said total around ?27k I think, best part of US$50k.....). It is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.
