Following our Leica friends in the UK who have invented a new and really fun Leica-oriented tradition, a group of Leica-minded folks in Colorado have decided to create a similar event for the United States. We hope that "The One Challenge" event will catch on and spread 'round the world! For the Denver crowd, we are centering our event around a photography exhibition currently being shown at the Colorado Historical Society, titled "Capture the Moment." The show, which runs through December 12, 2004, features the most comprehensive exhibition of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs ever shown in the United States. The exhibition features nearly 130 winning photographs representing instantly recognizable historic moments from around the world. The exhibition "Capture the Moment" was developed by the Newseum, the interactive museum of news, in association with Business of Entertainment, Inc. NYC, Cyma Rubin Curator. For information about the exhibition, see the following link: http://www.postnewsads.com/capture_moment/ The Colorado group, tentatively called "The One Challenge Coloradans," will meet as follows: Where: The Colorado Historical Society Museum, 1300 Broadway, Denver, Colorado 80203 When: Saturday, December 11, 11:00 am How: Tickets are required for the show, are $5 USD, and must be purchased in advance from the museum, or from TicketWeb, an online ticketing service. See the exhibition's Web site as follows for information: http://www.postnewsads.com/capture_moment/ It is important that you reserve ahead of time, as spaces are limited. Please contact the event coordinator (Kit McChesney) once you've reserved your ticket for the show. Following the viewing of the exhibit, which should last about an hour or so, we will meet in the Colorado Historical Society Museum lobby, and instructions for "The One Challenge" will be distributed. From approximately noon until 3:00 pm MST, photographers will fan out across historic Lower Downtown Denver (LoDo), and spend their three hours shooting with their Leica cameras. At 3:00 pm (or thereabouts), we will all meet at the popular neighborhood restaurant/bar, made famous by its continuous musical homage to Beethoven, "My Brother's Bar," at 2376 15th Street, Denver, Colorado, 80202. All these venues are within walking distance, for the energetic, or can be accessed easily via Denver's 16th Street Mall Shuttle, which is free. For further information, RSVPs, and details about "The One Challenge," please contact Kit McChesney at kitmc@vuelux.com. See you there! Kit (PS--In case you're interested, there will be goodies provided for all participants!)
