Cute... Certainly I'm no non-profit organization, neither am I that well-heeded. I would not buy an M for my own son who is twenty-six either. I didn't raise him that way. Should he ever slow down enough to appreciate one, he will buy his own. He is very independent and would never ask to borrow mine..., and he HAS used Leicas in school. When he was unable to find a D1 with the later filmware, I DID lend him mine on a long-term basis. It will work fine for his web posting and his business and he admired the way my interior shots looked of his vintage cars with the D1. I also know I will get it back some day in the same condition he got it. A D1 is a nice little camera, but it has no great value long-term. While this may not be YOUR philosophy, it IS mine and it seems pretty valid to me since my son is currently doing better financially than I am. Good for him! Must have done SOMETHING right.
