Hi Andrew,
I'm using a Canon 9900F for medium format, for me it works superbly on
monochrome negatives and colour negs, but I seem to get a few problems
with slides.
The scratch and dust removal is really good too. It's supplied with
frames for batch processing 35mm,
mounted and film strips, large format film and 6x6 , 4.5x6 and 6x7 film.
Just one niggle, there's no frame for 6x6 mounted slides - film yes,
mounts no.
It's also very good as a straightforward scanner and has a whole pile of
software
in the package, scan software, text recognition etc etc.
Apart from the above niggles I can heartily recommend the machine.

Of course you don't have to run Photoshop CS, I would like to but it's
too expensive for me at
the moment. At present I'm using PS Elements 2.0 which has most of the
basic functions of CS
for a reasonable price (around 50 euros) I read that elements 3.0 has
now been released and
has a few more advanced capabilities for around this price too.
If you've been using Irfan then you will be astounded at what you can do
with Elements.

Hope this adds more help than confusion
regards
Douglas
