Perhaps the defaults are to associate .TIFF, .JPG and possibly others to ACDSee. If you agree to the defaults and these file types were associated with Photoshop/Imageready then it will "steal" the association from them and assign them to ACDSee. Just remove the tick-marks in that dialogue. I don't remember ACDSee doing anything I didn't agree to. But you do have to be on your toes. Some programs have a "do nothing" as default instead of making active suggestions. I like ACDSee a lot too. I'm just a little irritated that it doesn't handle the Nikon NEF (raw) files.
