It's more about control of the dialogue than anything else. When the art
world sycophants started to mulch in mass on cheap investments with
photographs, that's when we started seeing 'new terms.'
In America, photography grew, for the most part, without being hampered by
outside, meaning mainly European traditions, and went about its way unique
to our own historical experience.
Control of terms, and the subsequent dialogue, is also control of the
future. I think the further we distance ourselves from those so-called
European constraints, especially with terms, the better.
