i just got back from a trip to italy -- shot nearly 200 b/w images, more 
than 
600 color images, carried two bodies,four lenses and storage media for the 
whole mess and it didn't weigh more than 15 pounds, total, and all fit in my 
carry on.

oh yeah, it was a Leica CL, a 15, 35, 40 and 90 mm lens, an Olympus XA, and 
a 
huge pile of film. No trouble at any check-in or security gate, not one 
single image lost and i never, ever, worried that my batteries were low.

so much for progress.
