This is most commonly a javascript function, easily defeated by 
turning javascript off before loading the page.  

Unfortunately short of some streaming plugins it doesn't seem there's 
much of a way to block copying; as someone else pointed out, in the 
normal run of things images are downloaded to the HD cache before 
display and can easily be snagged from there.

I tend to rely on fairly prominent copyright notices and registration 
to discourage theft; that $150k liquidated damages provision is a 
pretty large stick to wave at people.
