I agree the 12585 hood is excellent.  I bought one thinking I could use it
with my latest style 50 Summicron.  WRONG!!  Won't fit and Leica tells me
the lens cannot be modified economically to use it.  BUMMER!!

I have no experience with your plastic version though it is a hood that
anecdotally many have disliked. The earlier 12585 metal version (same
design) works well. It resists the day to day knocks and bumps and big
bangs result in a bent hood rather than the hood falling off. The hood
is then easily straightened but unlikely to look mint again.
