Bits and pieces getting tranferred here and there, the Ridings of Yorkshire disappearing, things like Merseyside, Teesside, Cleveland being created , some of them taking in parts of 2 or more counties. Liverpool and Leeds, as Glasgow , all renowned at times as being really anus mundi, grimy industrial cities, have now turned into the top places for culture, advertising, IT and fashion. Gone are the days of trouble at't mill Mr Arkwright and the dark satanic mills - Jerusalem has been builded here - on (in?) Englands green and pleasant land. Douglas (born in Pudsey, where all the best cricketers came from eg Tunnicliffe and Sutcliffe, Len Hutton played there too) Frank Dernie schrieb: > I am sure Liverpool was in Lancashire but in some local government > changes a new region of Merseyside was created so that is where it is > now - unless they have moved it again.
