"the Asph weighs in at 310 grams and the non-Asp at 245 (early) to 195
(late) grams."

You also have to consider the weight of the body when calculating
weight reduction percentages. An M6TTL clocks in at 600 grams.
Therefore:

body + Asph 910 gm
body + pre-Asph (early) 845 gm 92% of body + Asph
body + pre- Asph (late) 795 gm 87% of body + Asph

Though risking accusations of single-mindedness and repetition, I have
to say again that you just need to lose the Asph shade to get a small
compact lens.
