Dan,
I suspect parts of the barrel are metal as the focusing ring feels like
metal. The focusing acts like a well damped USM set up as the ring
turned with no stop. It felt about like my 24 M so they did a good job.

Subject: [Leica] Digilux 2 question

Foe LUGers who have handled the camera, is the lens barrel metal of
plastic? Is the focusing real helicoid, metal on metal, or is it
pseudo
focus by wire? My Minolta D7 has a mechanical focus ring, but it isn't
connected directly to the lens, and the focusing is done electronically,
in
discrete steps.
