Was her ancestor the wife of Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich, the younger brother of the latest Tsar? She must be: the other Romanov relics are well documented, but the family was always uncertain just how to treat Michael and his irregular marriage, an approach which carried over to the British royal house. (The Windsors privately supported the surviving Romanovs during the 1920's and 1930's and still maintain close and cordial relations with many of them, but, for political reasons, have always kept this conection quite low-key.)
