Contrary to what you have been told, there is no "replacement vulcanite"
which is a cast hard rubber that has been vulcanized to the Leica body in
one SEAMLESS piece.  Replacement sheet coverings bonded to the body
will have a seam.

Original vulcanite can be patched, locally, and the texture replicated.  See
the archives and Mr. Nemings superb Q&A site in reference to that.
