Thanks, Sonny!  I had not particularly noticed this, but I took most of my 
photo in Honduras with the LCD off because it attracted too much 
attention.  I also seemed to have less of problem with noise than a lot of 
others had complained about.  It must be more than coincidence!  Neat Image 
does a good job removing noise but leaves a plastic look that may or may 
not be pleasing.
