Ted - Does that mean that you do not look at books of photographs by
world-renowned photographers who do not use Leicas? And does it mean
that you don't go to galleries and museums to look at photographs unless
they were shot with Leicas?

Don't you understand, Ted, that there are as many crappy photos taken
with Leicas, by inept photographers, as there are crappy photographs
taken with any other kind of camera? And don't you understand that there
are far more outstanding photographs taken with non-Leicas than there
are outstanding photographs taken with Leicas - for the simple reason
that there are not many people using Leicas any more?

As I have said, I use Leicas and am interested in discussing them. But
the day that I become such a brandaphile that I can say that I "don't
really have any interest in what anyone takes with digital non-Leica or
non-Leica related cameras" is the day that I walk away from photography
- - because it will be obvious to me, if to no one else, that what I am
interested in is a label, not a art.

But if it will make those of you who feel the way Ted does any happier,
from now on when I post images I'll label them all as Leica shots. After
all, there is no chance in hell that you can tell the difference at 72
dpi and then you'll be happy because you'll be looking at Leica shots.

And btw - I do shoot some color negative film in my Leicas, so the fact
that I post a color image does NOT mean that it's digital. :-)

Well, BD, Tilley hats and single malt Scotch just sort of fall into the
chatter on this list - has been that way every since I joined. Watches
and fountain pens, cookware and motorcycles, etc., etc., things like
those come and go and I suppose it will always be that way. I had
better leave women out of that mix - I would be in trouble either way I
went. ;-)

Digital this and that is another matter. I don't really have any
interest in what anyone takes with digital non-Leica or non-Leica
related cameras. And IMHO does not belong on this list. Take it to the
Canon or Nikon or whatever list.

On the other hand, I love to see the pictures Graham and Sonny takes
with their Leica-related Panasonics. I look forward to seeing them.
Others, like Tina, who use the Digilux 1, have also posted some
excellent photos. And I welcome her 10D photos taken with Leica lenses.
All of these fine folks have, from time to time, made comments or
answered questions about their digital equipment which is most helpful.

The recent ad nauseam discussion by br about his mighty Oly 5050 became
almost too much, and drew some strong comments from at least one of the
best of the best on this list. I for one thought those comments were
right on the mark.

Also, if someone wishes to post a PAW taken with another camera, from
what I understand (and I hope I understand correctly), that is within
the rules, and that's fine. Some interesting PAWs have been taken with
many types of cameras.

As for having discussed everything there is to discuss about Leica
cameras and lenses - film or digital - on this list, well, that is your
opinion and I know you will stick with it. I'm not so sure. Digital is
moving into Leica territory - albeit slowly - and will garner a lot more
attention over the next year or two. Sandwiched in there somewhere may
be some other interesting developments in Leica film cameras and lenses.
And there are always people new to Leica joining the list who have
questions (yes, I know, they have been answered 10-to-the-1000th time! )
about their new equipment - and they should receive an answer to help
them.

About this list falling on hard times or dying out - I don't think so.

Ted
