Subject: RE: [Leica] Summicron-M 35mm Question

It is perfectly normal, unless it is opening more than say half a stop.
Nota bene, the spherical 35 Summicron has two more diaphragm blades than
the aspherical. Perhaps one of our more optically sophisticated
correspondents could explain if this is responsible in any way for the
different characteristics of these lenses.

Subject: [Leica] Summicron-M 35mm Question

This has been bothering me for a while. I notice that the aperture in
my
35mm Summicron-M (last model before ASPH) could open more at the F/2
setting. While looking from the front, it doesn't look "round" or
completely open. Is that normal?

Feel free to e-mail me directly at ttamura@aloha.net

TIA, Thomas
