There is no better proof than a user that has not had to repair his
instrument.  If the camera works without repairs, then what proof do you
have that it is not as good?  Just because you think the finish or feel
is better that does not give you reason to say the newer unit is
inferior.  It is highly the opinion of those on this list and elsewhere
that Leica R cameras a total junk.  I beg to differ, I have an SL and a
R4SP that have operated for 15 years with only one of them having a
single failure and the lenses are the best I have used to date and I
have used both Nikon and Canon cameras and lenses, I won't buy another
one.  Most of those who claim the Leica R cameras are junk have never
even picked one up to try them. All of the R users I have talked to love
them and would readily buy another.  Documentation usually shows the
number of repairs a unit has had, if there is none, that tells me they
are of very well manufacture.

omigod! ROFLOL!! PIMP!! (for the faint of heart, that is an acronym, not
a
word!)

The usual undocumented - and undocumentable - "for complex reasons."
Marc should produce a single Leica repair person not attached to Solms
or Northvale to state a single complex (or simple) reason that the build
quality of M6's is the best.

I am personally familiar with and have employed the services of the
three independent Leica service people in the United States best known
by reputation to LUG members. Every single one has stated to me
explicitly that the build quality of the M2, M3, M4 and M5 exceeds that
of any of the M6's. Not true of the M4-2 or M4-P.

To say the contrary without documentation is pure bombast.

That said, I have the impression that attention to a flawless build
quality is Leica's goal with the MP. I hope to Heaven that I am right
and that Solms achieves just that. An MP is on my to-buy list.
