For one, it's usually faster. For another, it doesn't risk jostling the lens/camera combo (making you loose sight of what's in focus and what is not). Guesstimate your distance to the subject (easily done with a little practice -- a couple of evenings) or rough focus using the RF patches. Then aim the patch at the thing you want in focus and sway back-and-forth until the images are in synch. Recompose and shoot. That said, low light always makes it difficult to focus; and 1/15s with a 75mm lens means that even if you *are* in focus, blur due to camera shake is a BIG factor.
