Only a sensor type called "interline" can do this. The other issues are the mirror, and the shutter...remember, this sensor requires a mechanical shutter (Interline sensors do not, they are their own shutter, and that is why they can provide real-time preview...they are the types used in cheapo P&S digicams AND digital video camcorders), and the mechanical shutter would have to open/close with some frequency to be able to do this...and you'd have to be able to read out the data from the sensor in "somewhat" real-time...
