One of the rules to digitals is to always format the card only using the in 
camera format utility.  I notice you use a mac and the finder directory 
they leave on media can cause problems too.  The CF cards are formated with 
a DOS/Windows FAT file system.  Most pros do a full format on their cards 
(using the camera to do it)  at each use.

As for you corrupted files, there are image rescue programs 
available.  They should recover your files.
