Tim,  it very much depends on the branch of the government.  The army was
using Nikon 950's three years ago.  I had a chance to speak to the person at
the top of that food chain and his concerns were 1) usability with concerns
for power supply, 2)quality, could you blow the image up to see the odd bit
in the background that you didn't care about today but might become very
important later, 3) how to properly archive, what would the migration route
be, what protocol's to implement now so that in 50 years someone could go
back and research the archives.
