Well, that may be true. Sometimes advertisers aren't aware that they can
sponsor links, and on really obscure things, the per-click charges can be
really, really low. So if you have something obscure to offer, you can get
great exposure if you're willing to set up an account and pay the minimums,
etc., to keep your ads live and up and running.

I guess most of my google searches arte for things so obscure or old that no
one has sponsored links - which is why I miss the adds...
