The police ARE the mildly retarded - specially selected so that those
peacable characters without a grudge against their fellow humans can't
apply. Did you read the rash of stories about people suing police
departments because the employment (IQ) tests they took eliminated them.
They were TOO intelligent. I have always much prefered army types; I went to
a college with a high percentage of army people. They train and work knowing
that they will go up against people who are going to be as well or better
armed than them.
