My son's doom and gloom on alt3 is a function of being tired, hungry (of course he did not like the food on the trip), and deprived of electronic entertainment for several days. On the other hand, I must say that as a 13-year old he gives us far less trouble than I gave my parents when I was his age. Regarding the contrast, I wonder if my newly recalibrated monitor makes me post images that are too flat. It looks good here, and I have not changed my method; I scan relatively flat so as to capture as much detail as possible, and then adjust brightness and contrast in Photoshop using the Levels control--basically, I adjust brightness first, and then move the black and white sliders inwards until the image looks good to me. Of course, with an inherently high-contrast film like Delta 3200 I try to be careful not to overdo it, perhaps I was too careful this time.
