As far as the Lens testing thing goes i CAN'T see how a lens tester type
could ply their trade if they had to buy every lens they tested. I think
they'd have to appear trustworthy enough to have these companies lend
then their glass not looking klutzy like they'd scratch a front or rear
element or drop the thing.

Leica sends me a lens what does that mean?
That means WORK! Exacting work. Hours and hours and hours crunching
numbers and finessing optical machines. OH boy!

Fun if one lived to number crunch but every lens which comes in is a
whole lot of work.
Sure we can shoot some tress or beautiful people with the lens but in
the end we have to give it back.
Sorry folks but this to me sounds like a whole lot of not a lot of fun!

Now if they GAVE You the lens THAT wold be something else I'd start
getting the other half of my brain back in shape; learn to use my Texas
Instruments calculator and think about becoming a lens tester!

But ME i have no fun and enjoyment in handling other peoples gear.
What's the point? Its just a frustrating experience you cant use it to
make a significant contribution to your body of work.

Erin I don't think is an independently wealthy Bon Vivant Leica toter
who is too cheap to pay for his own glass so he goes out and takes
optical engineering 101 and says a bunch of nice things about Leica
modern glass.
To do what he does the way he does it he'd have to be a committed
engineer-type, craftsman, and artist and probably a few other things I
don't know about but con artist is not it!

We should appreciate the information Erwin gives us and not cast
aspersions on his integrity.
Me i think twice before i cast doubts on anyones integrity.
It's not a natural part of an argument or discussion with me.
I'd be quick to say or think someone is wrong headed or not real bright
before I call them a sociopath.
It's a little more intense that disagreeing with them on a point to put
it mildly.
It's not a small thing. And to do such things so quickly and glibly just
sounds like an immature thing to me.

"How is it you do what you do?" should be an innocent question not a
condemnation. We assume everything is on the up and up until we find out otherwise.
