There are certainly well-established avenues one must take to become a 
person of influence. Self-promotion isn't one. I know several people who 
call themselves writers who have nothing notable on their resume, and 
several people who have written published works who never call themselves 
anything. As I had mentioned about a year ago, if a mime has to tell the 
audience what he is doing, he isn't doing it very well.
