Is it time it was taken off-list so the rest of us can get on with what we enjoy? According to your threefold logic, the only people entitled to discuss or criticise the Canadian healthcare system are Canadians. Why would/should that be limited to Canada? Only Canadians can discuss Canadian problems but anyone can discuss Zimbabwe's? Further, the same logic could be extended to any other issue - politics, religious repression, whatever. It strikes me that you are providing a reductio argument against your own statement. Obviously I know all the other stuff you wrote which is why I said your statement was shortsighted in the first place. In our rapidly shrinking planet, it is only prudent for people to examine and be critical of situations outside their own country such that they can endeavor to prevent similar circumstances arising where they live or maybe even help the other country in some cases. By your logic rampant disease and healthcare crises in developing nations are none of my business since: A/ I'm not a citizen of an developing nation B/ I'm not (see A) and I don't live in a developing nation either C/ I certainly don't intend to die in a developing nation, not any time soon > anyway.<<<<< But Thomas I was only talking about my country, Canada. As that is the country everyone was shooting at. And my comments had absolutely nothing to do with the manner you twisted it to mean "under developed countries." Obviously, we the developed countries, must medically assist every way we can economically afford with aid to the non have countries, otherwise the unchecked diseases of those countries can or will become part of our life styles in North America and that of other developed countries. Aids alone for one, came from Africa to North America and the problem of that plague is still not being addressed strong enough by the western world, nor is it being addressed strongly enough by the governments of the African countries where it's rampant. To some degree we all have to be aware of the disease in other countries, let alone their health care services simply because so many of us tour the world like it's our back yard. I mean, we hop on a plane and several hours later we're in the middle of Africa, Asia, Europe wherever. So it's imperative we as travelers beware of the medical situation in any country we intend on visiting through assignments or holiday. By the same token those in the under developed countries can hop on a plane and be in the middle of our countries just as easily and carrying whatever it could be. And that alone is reason enough for all of us to damn well be helping and concerned about aid the world over. Hopefully this might clear up your perception of my comment meaning the world, when it was in direction of Canada only! ted - - - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
