I used to successfully shoot food on 35mm for Trust House Forte hotels here
without too many problems. The only drawback was the inabaility to control
selective depth of field but fortunately that never came up for them. Any
way I can help email me privately.

I haven't done them in many years, but when I did it
was typically with a view camera in 4X5, or
occasionally with a Hasselblad. For lighting, it was
always big studio strobe lights, usually with umbrella
reflectors, or softboxes. I haven't seen anyone doing
much in the way of food shots with 35mm.
