Darrell, just for fun, find a lab in your area that has a Fuji Frontier and
the adaptations to scan medium format.  Have them scan a chosen slide and
compare to your slide.  It is my understanding that the Frontier scans at
5000dpi per channel but the density capabilities are less than your Nikon.

Hopefully with an independent scan you can start to isolate where the flaws
are coming form.
