I am firmly convinced that the single best improvement you can make to 
an M camera (or any camera) is to bolt it down onto something solid. I 
have slides that were handheld at 1/30 and slides that used a tripod at 
1/8. The difference in sharpness is astounding. That said, I seldom use 
a tripod. If I were publishing my photographs, I would use a tripod when 
ever I could.
