I'm glad that FOM2 is supported (in spirit if not money) by Leica, but FOM2 should not be (IMO) a Leica promotional gimmick. If Leica fears competition, then it has less confidence in itself than the LUG has in Leica. As I understand it, the lens OR the body must be Leica, but both need not be Leica. I've shot pictures using my 28/2.8 Hexanon on the Hexar RF and on the M3, and I'll be damned if I can tell the difference between the two bodies by looking at the images.
