LOL, very true reasons I pay for Leicas * they are tiny compared to modern SLRs * the lenses are tiny compared to modern SLR lenses * the glass is wonderful * they are practically indestructible in everyday use and almost totally weatherproof * the lenses are far more solid than most autofocus SLR lenses * the viewfinder is unique and allows you to selectively compose without moving your eye * very quiet * don't draw much attention from non-pros the point is it's a whole gestalt. None of these virtues is entirely unique to Leica, but the constellation is. Metering by eye or incident meter is so second nature to me that having a spotmeter on board only seems like a marginal advantage. A proper industrial strength matrix metering system would be another matter. As would a digital back. Not that I expect to see either in the next decade. I expect all the photo action to be digital in the next few years, but seriously doubt if anything will replace MY leicas. - -- JB - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
