No one but a, well, a long-haired GenX Kyle Cassidy-type, would use gaffers tape - or Barbie stickers - to black out a Leica M; the proper tape is black plastic electrical tape. If you wish to use something more permanent, Dr. Blacktape recommends either a black lacquer stick, or the more easily obtainable permanent black Sharpie. Either one will suffice quite nicely. As to the issue of diminishing resale value...First, as Mr. Cassidy quite nicely recently demonstrated with a metal file, an M6 is a tough puppy - eventually using something like nail polish remover to clean off black Sharpie or lacquer will not destroy your camera. But Dr. Blacktape believes that cameras, including Leicas, are tools. You use your tools to make images. And if you leave your tools to your heirs, they too will - hopefully - use them to make images. And if they don't, Dr. Blacktape can only say....tough noogies. ;-) - ----- Original Message ----- From: Gene <sop@erols.com> To: <leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 3:25 PM Subject: Re: [Leica] Leica Lettering > Somebody else suggested searching for Mr. > Black Tape.
