So would I.  Clever johnnies, those Leica fellows -- make the rewind
know out of a material which will deform so easily under a good whack
that its edge bottoms out on the camera body beneath before it has
a chance to put hard-to-repair stresses on the shaft it's connected
to.  Kind of like a good car -- it crumples so you don't have to.

The knob's easily replaced; held with one screw.  In the meantime, if
it makes you dizzy to look at it, look somewhere else.  Or go whole
hog and paint a mesmerising spiral pattern on it.
