Not yet. Take apart any digital camera and you'll see
why. Lots of
expensive parts, several circuit boards, flex cable,

Until just recently,
the profit was negative. Digital cameras were simply a
way to hold a
manufacturers place in the digital market. The current
profit margin for
the manufacturer is minuscule.

I think this is an egregiously irresponsible
suggestion. A friend of mine was showing off his new
Canon G2 digicam. I was trying to make head or tail
of the manual, but noticed on page 5 that it clearly
said: "Do not attempt to disassemble or alter any part
of the equipment that is not expressly described in
this guide. Disassembly or alteration may result in
high-voltage electrical shock. Internal inspections,
alterations and repairs should be conducted by
qualified service personnel authorized by your camera
distributor or the closest Canon Customer Support Help
Desk."

Taking the thing apart sounds foolhardy at best and
near lethal at worst. What could possibly be gained
by trying to open up one of these cameras?
