The reps are gone and the companies could care less what the small camera stores sell or suggest. The consumer goes or orders from the big electronic or 2 story camera stores and buys the new and latest digital camera because these stores have it for less than the local camer store. Consumers complain that the local store sells it for 50 bucks more. No shit! The small local store can only afford 3 or 4 cameras when the big camera stores buy 150, so the smaller stores have to sell it for more in order to make some kind of profit. And the profit is usually very, very small. Used to be you saw the Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, etc reps at least twice a month. Now you're lucky to see one rep every other month unless you are a big store. Canon does not even want to deal with small companies anymore. Nikon makes small stores purchase at least $6000 in equipment every so often just so one can still sell the Pro gear. Then the orders come in one camera or lens at a time and half the stuff is on backorder. Now this consumer who spends his money ordering a digital camera and all the stupid accessories now comes walking into his or her local camera store and now wants to know how to work the damn thing. Haha, fool. Didn't know this new digital stuff was gonna be so much $$ huh? News flash also, there are going to now be one-time use Compact Flash and Smart Media cards so the consumers can keep buying cards. 64mb cards will soon cost 10-17 dollars and can be used only once like a roll of film. Mo' money, mo' money.
