The M7 could be considered pricey in comparison. When I was a student (18-years old) I bought a used Leica M2 ($150), 21 f4 (160), 35 f3.5 (25), meter (thrown-in), Leicavit (25). That $360 was a lot for 1966 dollars but it got me my first Leica. That was bought with money I earned working a summer job in a portrait studio. AND with the exception of the meter I still have all of it today. [Somewhere around here is a portrait my boss shot of me that summer with me and my 21mm shod M2 & Leicavit. Who is that kid anyway?] good luck -- you'll never regret getting a Leica M.
