This places the sensor in a position to read light directly off the Stofen instead of light reflecting off the subject. It seemed expedient to shield the sensor the first time so I cut the bottom off of a 35mm plastic film holder and stuck it to the flash with some florists wax.(I was at a wedding and florists wax was available at the right price). I think there are any number of ways to shield the sensor from light coming from the flash. As for the 24mm, I tilt the head up as always when using this device.
