I use the Stofen's very heavily when I use flash.  The trick is to have
either a ceiling or wall relatively nearby for best results.  In a church
sanctuary setting it will be softer but that is more to do with the milk
plastic than any reflected light.  I have also been more consistent with
exposures when I shield the 283 sensor with a cut our film can stuck on with
florists wax: you use the Stofen with the flash head up somewhat.

Oh, by the way, the Stofen will let you use your 24, usually the vignetting
adds to the shot much as the Noctilux works most of the time.
