The portraiture is the driving force in this book. Fashion, I have to
acknowledge, is an important activity within the human condition. As
this book is period driven, it's an important insight on one of the key
figures of this era.
The composition of the images, and his control of the medium, while
dated to some, is pure textbook material. To me, he's always been one of
the very best portraitist practising the trade.
Granted, his current work is now a very formalized methodology. But, the
early work is where the fire in the belly became quite apparent. This
book shows that fire.
