Use the >shutter speeds for correcting exposure. did that > >2/ When shooting, the lens must be right on the wire fence. No not the glass >touching, but certainly the outer ring of the lens. And keep it there while >shooting! It doesn't matter even if there are cross wires right in front of >the glass you will not see them, nor will they show any distortion or >distraction to image quality. Sadly (luckily) the race organizers are not going to allow joepublic up to the fence. I did try to "pan" the lens a bit to blur the wire out, but I knew it would alway look like "caged F1". I will remember this advise for other wired in events however -- I've often wondered. The other problem at the GP was that you would have been almost too close to the action (which was zipping past at 300 kph) > > >Shooting this fashion two years ago while my grandson was pitching in a >championship baseball game, one of the slides submitted to the stock agency >that represents my work, was sold for a major commercial, $8000.00 USD! :-) I'll bear that figure in mind ;-) > >My grandson and I have a deal............ every picture sold of him it's a >50-50 split and his goes to a university education fund. He should end up with a fine education. My other problem was how to focus on the track beyond the wire (given that I could not go close to the wire) because the wire "interfered" with the focus aids on the screen. ie the wire broke up the patterns which would normally have allowed me to focus on the white line in the middle of the track. I ended up focusing too far back -- not that it hurt the shots :-( I'll post some of my day's work soon Cheers - -- Alastair Firkin http://www.afirkin.com http://www.familyofman2.com - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
