The cams tell a reflex camera what aperture the lens is and what aperture has been set on the lens. As you will be using the lens wide open most of the time the issue of cams is moot. I haven't noticed a plethora of grips and stocks out on the market but I do remember seeing them, usually attached to a 400 or a 560. With their absence you should negotiate a very low price as when you want something it is not available but when you have finally found and purchased what you needed then you find them being given to you.
