In the photoshopped version, the top of his feathers blend into the background. Compare that to his white feathers on the side where you didn't remove any background. It's really tricky to cut away a black background behind a white object and still leave enough edge. I usually give up trying. :) I'd be temped to get rid of the twig growing out of the back of his head, but leave the bird in the background in place...just so that the first eagle's head edges are better defined.
